Remember Your Dreams

The most fundamental part of this journey is learning to remember your dreams.  In asking you to remember your dreams, I'm asking you to change something fundamental.  I guess you could say it isn't natural to remember dreams, they just disappear.  Even when you wake up and you think "wow, that was a neat dream, I'll tell so-and-so," you barely make it out of bed and that dream is GONE.  It's like we're not meant to remember.  Well, we can change that.  So Step 1 is just that, excitement to explore, and a willingness to change.

Step 2: Put a pad and pencil beside your bed.
You'll wake up in the night between dreams sometimes and remember them clear as day.  This is because seconds ago the dream was real to you.  Totally real.  You now need to have the discipline to open your eyes, reach over, grab the stupid pencil and pad and write down a few keywords that will help you remember the dream.  You can then toss the pad and pencil on the floor, you're done.  When you wake up in the morning its usually to an awful alarm, and this makes it hard to remember dreams.  Physically changing position before you commit to remembering a dream makes it a LOT harder to do.  So commit to writing something down, think what that's going to be before you even THINK about your alarm!

Step 3: Every night, as you climb into bed do two things.  One, drink half of a glass water and set the glass and remaining water at your bedside.  As you're drinking make sure you're excited to lucid dream, and tell yourself that your numero uno priority is to remember those dreams crystal clear in the morning.  Two, stay excited, think about people you'll meet, things you'll do, where you'll fly, etc.  The following morning, finish the water after you've written something in the journal.
